Piers Morgan has been slammed by a mental health charity for his reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah.

Mind has issued a statement that explains how disappointed it is with the TV host for not being more supportive of someone who expressed issues with suicidal ideation.

Meghan told Oprah that she told her husband she didn't want to live anymore and how people within Buckingham Palace didn't offer her sufficient support when she opened up about her mental health.

The charity said: "We were disappointed and concerned to see Piers Morgan's comments on not believing Meghan's experiences about suicidal thoughts today."

"It's vital that when people reach out for support or share their experiences of ill mental health that they are treated with dignity, respect and empathy."

Mind added that it was in conversations with ITV about what was said due to their support of the network's mental health campaign, Get Britain Talking.

Morgan told his audience on Good Morning Britain that he was 'sickened' by the Oprah interview and wouldn't 'believe a word' Meghan said.

"I'm angry to the point of boiling over today, I'm sickened by what I've just had to watch," Piers said.

"This is a two-hour trashathon of our Royal Family, of the monarchy, of everything the Queen has worked so hard for, and it's all being done as Prince Philip lies in hospital. They trash everybody."

His co-host, Susanna Reid sounded a bit more sympathetic to Meghan talking about her mental health, saying it was 'very concerning'.

"That's a pathetic reaction to someone who has expressed those thoughts."

Piers also took umbrage with Meghan claiming there had been 'concerns and conversations' among the Royals about their son Archie, with an unnamed member of the family making an issue of 'how dark his skin [was] going to be'.

The GMB host continued: "They basically make out the entire Royal Family are a bunch of white supremacists, by dropping this race bombshell... They didn't name which one it was, they just throw it out there, so it could be any member of the Royal Family.

"And Harry says, 'I'll never say who it was.' Well, you better say it fast."

During her chat with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex said the vitriol and constant criticism she copped from the British press pushed her to the brink.

"I just didn't see a solution," she told Oprah.

"Look, I was really ashamed to have to say [she had experienced suicidal thoughts] at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, but I knew that if I didn't say that, I would do it.

"I just didn't want to be alive anymore. It takes so much courage to admit you need help, to admit how dark of a place you're in."
