Mum Gives Her Kids Cheap Gifts From Santa So He Doesn’t Outshine Her

Mum Gives Her Kids Cheap Gifts From Santa So He Doesn’t Outshine Her

A mum on Tiktok has shared how attributes the small Christmas gifts for her children to Santa so he doesn't get credit for the big stuff.

Every family has a slightly different Santa tradition, but many involve a stocking from the parents and gifts under the tree from the big man in red.

While this tracks with the letter to Santa and the naughty and nice list parts of Santa lore, it does also mean old Saint Nic gets the credit for bringing the best pressies.

One mum is done with this narrative and she wants Santa to take the stocking stuffers.

Tikok user whatSJwears says she hits up the $2 shop for gifts for her kids that go in a bag to be credited to Santa.

She says it's time parents were given credit for doing the lion's share of the work and Santa can take the little bits and bobs around the edge.

SJ puts the little pressies in a gift bag with a note from Santa.

"I've just been to the pound shop to get some bits for the kids' stockings. I say stockings, I always just do them a gift bag," she says in the video.

"This is what Father Christmas brings because he's not getting the credit for the big presents."

The little gifts from Santa include cookies, bath bombs and hair accessories.

The mum says she gathers stuff from discount stores and supermarkets throughout the year and keeps it in a gift bag in the cupboard for Christmas Day.

To be honest, her argument makes perfect sense.

It isn't Santa working hard to provide presents for the family, staying up all night wrapping those presents, or spending hours perusing the internet for the best deals on the hot toy of summer.

Plus, when we're past a certain age and Santa no longer comes to visit, it's the stockings that usually stop, not the gifts under the tree.

SJ, who is a mother of two, says she usually goes for about half candy, chocolate and cookies for the bags and half toys, accessories and fun stuff like bath bombs.

She also doesn't wrap the stocking pressies, which is a great move for the environment and for whoever has to do the post-Christmas cleanup.

The only downside I can see to this plan is that the threat of Santa not coming diminishes slightly if he's not bringing the top tier gifts, but I'm fairly confident kids are present-orientated enough to fear the wrath of parents at Christmas just as much as Santa.
