Football kits always cause a little bit of controversy whenever they're launched. People just don't like change. Manchester United fans are raging because their third kit looks like rice pudding and Huddersfield fans are melting down after three quarters of their home kit is now a Paddy Power logo. Today, Chelsea unveiled their away kit to the world along with the hashtag #ItsAChelseaThing.

The white away kit features blue and red stripes on its collar and sleeves and is supposedly inspired by the mod subculture that dominated King's Road, a major street going through Chelsea, in the 1960s.

Here's some of the Chelsea players modelling the new kit, including CΓ©sar Azpilicueta who looks more like he's going to a christening than a football match.

In 2003, Chelsea were anything but a footballing powerhouse, but that all changed when Russian businessman Roman Abramovich took over. He invested vast sums of money into the club and turned them into a household name. With the help of the Special One, Jose Mourinho, they managed to win a few titles along the way.

Some eagle-eyed fans have taken to social media to examine the kit a little further and have pointed out that the sleeves and collar actually resemble the Russian flag.

As the Russian billionaire is the main reason why Chelsea aren't still stuck in mid-table obscurity these days, we think #ItsAChelseaThing is a very apt hashtag indeed.
