The question of 'what is your favourite takeaway place in Australia' will likely elicit loads of different answers.

There are so many out there that it would be next to impossible to rank them all and find out which joint really has taken the country's heart and stomach by storm.

Considering the incredible array of Italian, Chinese, burgers, fish and chips, Thai, Middle Eastern, African, salads and other types cuisines you can pick when you load up a meal delivery app, it's really tough to choose.

However, Menulog has done the heavy lifting for you and concluded that for 2021 it seems like pizza has reigned supreme (excuse the topping joke).

Dubbed the Menulogies, the company has listed a bunch of insights into the bizarre year we've experienced and all the eating habits that Aussies have notched from summer, autumn and winter.

Not only were they able to say that pizza was the Cuisine Of The Year, but they were also able to narrow it down to the most popular pizzeria in the country.

Take a bow Hanson Pizza and Pasta Bar in Woodville North, South Australia; you guys have taken home the Menulogie for 2021.

The company also found that a Dinner for One from Loz's Fish & Chip Shop in Sunbury, Victoria was the best food to get after being dumped, presumably for the apt menu item title.

According to Menulog, the best munchies order you can put through at 4:20pm is a maple bacon and a double patty from the Sneaky Signature Burger from Sneaky Burger Co in Albion Park, NSW.

Rory Murphy, Commercial Director at Menulog said in a statement: "It's been amazing to see Aussies rally behind our restaurants after such a tough year.

"As the hospitality industry sets down the road to recovery, we're so proud to honour those special restaurants who have made an impact on our lives during 2021.

"Our data shows there's a meal and dish for every occasion, or life event thrown our way. Aussies love for food is unrivalled and it's been both interesting and hilarious to see the trends over the last year, from dependable dishes to the must-have meals."

Bloody oath, and hopefully we get to see aa whole new set of champions come this time next year.
