QAnon Supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene Just Won A Seat In US Congress

A Georgia businesswoman who has expressed support for the far-right and debunked conspiracy theory QAnon has won a US House seat.

Marjorie Taylor Greene was declared the winner in Georgia's 14th congressional district, winning 81 per cent of the vote against her challenger, Democrat Kevin Van Ausdal, who received about 20 per cent. Van Ausdal dropped out of the race back in September after just 31 days.

Greene has amassed a significant social media following, where she posts inflammatory videos.

She claims Black and Hispanic men are being held back by 'gangs and dealing drugs,' that there is an 'Islamic invasion' of government offices and she even accused Jewish billionaire George Soros of collaborating with Nazis.

QAnon is a far-right group of people who believe (and we s**t you not) a 'cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles running a global child sex-trafficking ring is plotting against President Donald Trump'.

They also believe Trump is battling against this cabal and is planning a day of reckoning called 'The Storm' where the cabal will be arrested.

The group haven't based any of these beliefs in substantiated fact, however it hasn't stopped loads of people from joining social media groups and pages associated with the conspiracy theory.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has posted a series of QAnon conspiracy videos on her social media pages.

Interestingly, the FBI has identified the QAnon movement as a potential domestic terrorism threat, and it has 'repeatedly inspired vigilante violence.'

More recently, Greene has attacked everything from the Black Lives Matter movement - which she called a 'terrorist organisation' - to the use of face masks to protect against the coronavirus.

Greene had dressed criticism of her comments on Twitter, saying: "The Fake News Media, the DC Swamp, and their radical leftist allies see me as a very serious threat. I will not let them whip me into submission."

Her candidacy has previously been praised by Donald Trump, who has called her a 'future Republican Star.'

"Congratulations to future Republican Star Marjorie Taylor Greene on a big Congressional primary win in Georgia against a very tough and smart opponent," Trump tweeted after her primary win. "Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up - a real WINNER!"

Upon landing a seat in the US House, Greene posted to social media thanking her supporters.

"BIG WIN TONIGHT! THANK YOU to the people of NW Georgia for choosing me to fight for them in Washington, DC!"
