We're in the midst of winter and everyone is certainly feeling the chilly bite every morning and evening.

But, as state and territory borders start to open up to everyone, you might be wanting to get out of your city or town and go somewhere warmer.

Qantas is helping make that possible by launching a massive sale.

There will be a whopping 350,000 seats available at discounted prices and you'll have until Friday (July 10) to get your grubby mitts on the deal.

Hamilton Island

Some of the best deals are below and you'll note that the majority will transport you somewhere slightly warmer.

  • Sydney to Ballina: $129
  • Sydney to Hamilton Island: $179
  • Sydney to Darwin: $219
  • Brisbane to Cairns: $139
  • Adelaide to Brisbane: $169
  • Hobart to Melbourne: $125
  • Brisbane to Fraser Coast: $109
  • Sunshine Coast to Sydney: $129

There are plenty of other flights that you'll be able to blag over the next few days, but those are some of the warmer places you'll be able to go.

Qantas Chief Customer Officer Stephanie Tully said: "The response we saw to the recent sales exceeded our expectations and showed just how much demand there is for people to get on an aircraft and get away.

"We expect this sale will help stimulate demand even more and encourage Australians to go on holidays and visit family and friends while also helping get more of our people back working again."

The idea of sunning yourself on a beautiful beach sounds just what the doctor ordered (unless that was of course rest and isolation).

But people in Victoria shouldn't try and get flights to New South Wales after the state officially announced it would be shutting the border at midnight tomorrow (Tuesday July 7).

The NSW government declared that the current spike in coronavirus infections means that it must protect people in NSW from a similar fate.

While the vast majority of cases are coming from suburbs in Melbourne, NSW authorities are trying to prevent anyone from Victoria from crossing the border.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said in a statement: "That closure will be enforced on the NSW side, so as not to drain on resources that are very much focused on fighting the virus right now across our state.

"I am grateful to the Premier of NSW for her support in giving affect to that.

"This is one of those precautionary measures, it is one of those things that I think will help us in broader terms to contain the spread of the virus."

There were 127 new cases announced today and 182 over the weekend in Victoria.
