If you're currently wishing you could just get away from it all, here's the news you've been waiting for - a new job offer has popped up on a remote island off the coast of Australia.

Queensland's Low Isles is looking for a caretaker to look after the island, continue the flora and fauna conservation, and go snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef.

The full-time position will be located 15 kilometres off Port Douglas in far north Queensland and it genuinely sounds incredible.

Marine Park Authority assistant director of reef conservation actions Mark Read said applications will be open until 25 September and people applying need to have a 'passion for sustainability'.

He said: "The caretakers live in paradise on a tropical island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef - but maintaining an island is hard work, and remote island living means limiting electricity and water use, which may not suit everyone.

"The caretakers are involved in everything from maintaining buildings and infrastructure including the solar power system and sewerage treatment system, liaising with tourist operators, cleaning toilets, managing weeds, grounds works and counting bird populations."

Okay, that part of the job doesn't sound exactly thrilling, but surely it would still feel closer to paradise during your time there.

You'd get to live in the old lighthouse keeper's home, which doesn't look half bad.

In addition to keeping the island pristine, you'll also be in charge of educating thousands of tourists a year about the island and surround natural wonder.

A GBRMP spokesperson added some of the other requirements for the job: "We're seeking people with experience in infrastructure maintenance and an ability to maintain the natural and heritage values of the island."

If you're keen on applying, head here and whack your application in. It's not clear how long it will take to find the next round of caretakers but you have to be in it to win it.
