A salon has been accused of animal cruelty after it used live fish in their fake nails.

Nail Sunny is no stranger to posting some pretty wild designs, however the brand has been called out for a video posted last month that copped a lot of abuse.

The Instagram account uploaded a video showing how it managed to attach a itty-bitty aquarium to a person's nail.

It was essentially a little pool that was capable of holding a bit of liquid.

But then it shocked everyone when it chucked a live fish inside the nail tub. Thankfully, the nail wasn't sealed and the animal was let back into a much, much larger tank.

However, loads of people in the comments section felt it was a step too far.

One person said: "I really enjoy watching these videos but for real this was just too much."

Another added: "Even for fun, it's not cool."

A third wrote: "This is absolutely ridiculous."

If the nail was properly sealed there would be no way for the fish to get food and they would slowly starve or suffocate from the lack of oxygen.

But it appears the nail tank was simply just a stunt for social media and was never intended for actual customers.

But that didn't stop animal rights group PETA from being seriously concerned about the video and asked Nail Sunny not to do that again.

The group's director Elisa Allen told Metro: "Using animals as if they were nothing more than beauty accessories is sad and stupid.

"There's no excuse for ripping sensitive fish out of their natural habitats and confining them to tiny, artificial enclosures - let alone ones attached to people's nails.

"Most people would be horrified to see these little animals floating helplessly in stagnant water."

They added: "This establishment must be reported to local authorities for cruelty to animals and its access to social media must be suspended while a full investigation takes place."

Nail Sunny defended themselves after copping some heat and insisted the fish were totally cool with it.

"The fish were not harmed and returned to the pet store," it wrote on Instagram.
