Norway has dropped a new Christmas advert that has won support from people all over the world.

For decades we have seen a jolly Santa in his red and white uniform (sometimes alongside Mrs Claus) getting ready to spread cheer and joy to good children on Christmas Eve.

However, the Norwegian Postal Service wanted to switch things up for this festive season and give the North Pole king a different lover.

In a short film titled When Harry Met Santa, the leader of the Christmas elves cosies up to a male partner instead.

It shows how this Norwegian bloke named Harry keeps catching Santa delivering presents to his house every year on December 24.

While the jolly man usually comes and goes without making a peep, Harry sees Santa spending time looking at all the stuff in his home.

As the years go on, they spend a bit more time with each other on Christmas Eve and form what looks to be a pretty adorable bond.

Harry eventually plucks up the courage to send Santa a note that says 'all I want for Christmas is you'.

He gets shocked when he sees a member of the Norwegian Postal Service delivering his presents one year and looks disappointed that his crush wasn't going coming for their annual date.

But when he comes back inside, Santa is waiting and says he enlisted the help of some posties so that he could spend more time with Harry.

The two then get to share a kiss that has been years in the making and the camera pans out of the home to let the two soak up Christmas Eve together.

At the end of the video, it reveals how next year Norway will be marking 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in the country.

The short film is a tribute to people getting to 'love whoever we want' and there has been an outpouring of support for it.

One viewer wrote: "I appreciate this so much."

Another person wrote: "Now I wish it was a full movie! The plot would be along those lines: Santa has been in love with a guy for years and they finally get together and he takes him back to North Pole to be his hubby!"

A third said: "This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen!! OH MY GOD!!! I love this!!!"
