The Chaser has reportedly been threatened with a permanent ban on Facebook after making a satirical joke about The Wiggles.

The iconic children's entertainers revealed over the weekend it would be adding four new members and three characters to make the team more culturally and gender diverse.

They were celebrated across the country for including people from different backgrounds to make sure more Aussies felt represented in the band.

However, conservatives weren't happy about it and Nationals Senator Matt Canavan complained The Wiggles had become too 'woke'.

To play on this classic trope of conservatives winging about anything progressive, The Chaser thought it would be fun to joke about a different type of Wiggle that would make them happy.

They wrote a headline that said 'New 'White Wiggle' introduced to help Matt Canavan feel represented', which featured a member of the Ku Klux Klan next to Anthony, Lachy, Simon and Emma.

While it was a hilarious and satirical addition to Monday's news, it seems like Facebook wasn't happy about the KKK reference and alleged it went against their Community Standards.

Caz Smith, editor for The Chaser, said they were suspended by the social media site, have had their posts limited and their paying supporters have been cancelled by the platform.

They have also been threatened with a permanent ban from Facebook after previously being flagged for a making a mockery of Sky News Australia 'for promoting anti-vaccine conspiracies', according to The Shot.

The group said that incident was a mistake from Facebook's moderators.

Caz told The Shot: "We're not that worried, frankly I'm just glad Facebook is being consistent with their policies.

"If they went after the hordes of anti-vaxxers we have to ban from our comments sections every day, well then I'd be worried something was wrong at Facebook HQ.

"Clearly this joke about a senator getting upset about a children's show was a much bigger threat to society."

Despite Matt Canavan crying about the new look Wiggles line-up, many were stoked to see Evie, Kelly, John and Tsehay join the band.

The expanded line up comes ahead of their new series Fruit Salad TV, which will premiere next month on the band's YouTube channel and it's hoped to make all Aussies feel welcome.

Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field, said: "As society has evolved, we have embraced the need for diversity and inclusiveness and want children all over the world to see themselves reflected on the screen.

"It's so important that The Wiggles continue to evolve along with our society. This is the first step towards shaping The Wiggles for the next 30 years, taking us in a direction that truly represents and serves our community more inclusively."
