Two Queensland Men 'Got Legally Married' So They Could Party With 100 Mates

That's one way to get around social distancing rules.

Queensland social distancing rules currently stipulate that you can have a public or private gathering of up to 40 people.

If you were having a birthday or big celebration, 40 people might not be enough to ensure all your mates could come.

Well, it appears two blokes have managed to skirt around the rules, if social media is anything to go by.

A Snapchat story has suggested that two friends got legally married so that they could party with 100 of their mates, which is in keeping with the rules.

Two images have been posted on Brown Cardigan's, showing one attendee of the wedding who couldn't believe they were actually witnessing a legal wedding go ahead.

The two blokes are seen holding each other's hands, presumably saying their wedding vows, while a woman in a blue dress, presumably the celebrant, carries out the official part of the ceremony. What happened before and after this image isn't known, but it was probably a raging party that went well into the night.

People in the comments section of the post were equally hilarious, with one person saying: "'It's just a prank bro'. Still has a honeymoon."

Another added: "Wanted to bang his mate and have his other mates celebrate it. Chess, not checkers."

A third said: "AKA how to marry your boyfriend while letting your conservative mates still think you're straight."

Queensland only has 12 active cases of coronavirus and there have been virtually no new cases in ages. But if there's a spike and it can be traced back to this alleged 'wedding' then you can bet your bottom dollar people will not be happy.

People in the Sunshine State could also be able to travel to Victoria and vice versa soon.

Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has praised Victoria's string of no new locally acquired cases and hopes the borders could open up soon, much to the dismay of New South Wales.

She told ABC Radio Brisbane: "I'm sure they're starting to feel there's a good chance they've eliminated the virus in Melbourne which is really, really exciting.

"So, hopefully we will be able to open borders to Melbourne and not require any form of quarantine. It's really exciting when we see where Melbourne is."
