A vegan activist is leaving her native Western Australia (WA) after being banned from every licensed venue in the state.

Tash Peterson has become known for her protests at restaurants, pubs and cafes in WA, which have seen her screaming at patrons for eating meat.

She's grown a huge following on social media by uploading videos of the stunts, which have ultimately proved divisive.

However, she has now uploaded a video to Instagram stating she has been served a notice banning her from every licensed premises in Western Australia. That mean she can now be charged with trespass and fined AUD $10,000 (£5,400 / US $7,500) if she enters any place that sells alcohol.

Peterson said: "The police came to my house this morning to serve a Barring Notice (Liquor licenced premises ban) upon me for a sea life Seaspiracy protest that I did last month highlighting the sea life holocaust caused by the fishing industry.

"This is a clear example of how so called freedom of speech is not actually freedom of speech at all."

That protest, which took place on 2 May, involved Peterson and other activists walking into a seafood restaurant in Fremantle and yelling at diners.

During her tirade, Peterson claimed the fishing industry kills billions of animals every years, branding it the 'largest Holocaust in history'.

After leaving the restaurant, Peterson continued to shout at diners and called them 'animal abusers'. She and her team could then be heard chanting: "Fish want to live, fish feel pain, just like us!"

The activists carried placards urging diners to watch Netflix's fishing industry documentary Seaspiracy.

In the new video, she explains how she will now move somewhere else in Australia to continue her activism.

Peterson says: "Guess what, WA? I'm getting the f*** out of here anyway so I can continue to do my protesting in other states in places that sell alcohol.

"I'm probably going to be over east in one month's time and I'm flying out on Monday."

Her followers were shocked at the announcement of the banning notice and rallied around her for support.

One person said: "So because you protest and speak your mind, you can't even go to your local supermarket?! Just because it sells alcohol!"

Another added: "I had no idea there was no freedom of speech in West Australia. What a shame."

Peterson explained how the banning notice she received from the cops was similar to the one she got for invading the pitch at an AFL game.
