It's that time of year again when streaming services celebrate the start of the silly season with a slew of brand new Christmas flicks to get you into the spirit.

While many holiday films are cheesy at best, Netflix's latest offering Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey already has fans raving about it, with many dubbing it as their 'new favourite Christmas film'.

The musical film stars Forest Whitaker as toymaker Jeronicus Jangle who lives in the town of Cobbleton with his daughter Journey (played by Madalen Mills). They embark on a quest to find his apprentice Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key) who has stolen one of his magical inventions.

The Netflix summary reads: "Set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton, the film follows legendary toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker) whose fanciful inventions burst with whimsy and wonder.

"But when his trusted apprentice (Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key) steals his most prized creation, it's up to his equally bright and inventive granddaughter (newcomer Madalen Mills) - and a long-forgotten invention - to heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within."

The cast also includes Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Hugh Bonneville and Ricky Martin, with tracks by John Legend, Usher and Ricky Martin featuring in the musical film.

Viewers are giving Jingle Jangle their tick of approval, with many praising the inclusivity of the film.

"Can we talk about the beautiful costumes that they are wearing and how much fun they are having? You never get to see Black characters having this much joy in a Christmas movie. Also this song is one of the best in the movie! So catchy and their voices are amazing!" one Twitter user said.

Another added: "My #JingleJangle Christmas journey went from 'um wtf' to 'am i having a great time?' to 'am i CRYING??' to 'god bless this gloriously overstuffed new holiday classic.'"

Some are even saying that it's just like The Greatest Showman but with a Christmas theme. What could be better than that?
