People in the Australian Capital Territory are heading to the polls next month to decide who they want to lead them for the next couple of years.

Naturally, as with pretty much every local, state and federal election, signs promoting specific candidates have started popping up all over Canberra.

Whether you're more inclined to vote Labor, the Greens, Liberal or some of the other candidates, it looks like they've all got a pretty strong contender for the 2020 race.

Some legend has been putting up campaign signs for Homer Simpson to win high office.

There have been a couple of these bad boys seen dotted around the nation's capital all asking people to Vote 1 for the patriarch of the Simpson family. What's even better is that he's apparently the head of the We Hate Stupid Flanders Party.

A photo has been posted onto Reddit, with some people getting a might kick out of seeing the signs.

One person wrote: "If this is real, I'm moving to Canberra just to vote."

Another added: "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos."

A third brilliantly said: "I dunno, when this guy was elected sanitation commissioner of some other town - Springfield I think it's name was... He blew the entire years budget in a month - causing a massive strike that affected the town so badly they literally had to move the WHOLE TOWN just to get away from the huge trash pile their original location had become! I'd like to think he's learned from his mistakes, but I'm sceptical."

While (hopefully) everyone knows that this is a joke, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility for a territory that once had the Sun-Ripened Warm Tomato Party, the Party! Party! Party!, the Pyjama Party, the Abolish Self Government Party and the Surprise Party.

Who knows how many more of the Homer signs will pop up between now and October 17 when people head to cast their ballot. We wonder if some people we get disappointed when they don't see Homer's name on the voting sheet.
