A woman is seeking compensation after her dog was severely injured at a Bunnings store.

Lisa Sinclair has taken to social media to show how badly her beloved dog suffered while on an escalator at a store on the Gold Coast.

She said: "Chelsea and I went to a Bunnings Warehouse store we had never been to before in Burleigh Queensland. She was on her lead and we were on the escalator.

"As I stepped off I heard screaming turned around and her paws got stuck.

"She was rushed to surgery and has extensive damage to both legs and one of her middle balanced toes has been amputated and similar damage to another foot."

The poor pooch was rushed to hospital after the paw got wedged in the escalator and a vet was forced to partially amputate the paw.

Ms Sinclair's post quickly blew up on social media and she indicated she was entitled to compensation for the veterinary fees.

She added: "The store tells me they are not responsible, that I have to file a compensation complaint which could take god knows how long. I'm currently not working so it's very hard to even buy food.

"If Bunnings warehouse Burleigh Queensland had any morals they would pay my vet bill.

"I have the bill I have photos and they have the incident on camera."

The DIY hardware store has since spoken out about the incident and ensures that everything that can be done will be done to bring the issue to a resolution.

In a statement to 7News, Bunnings said it has been speaking to Lisa about how to resolve the incident.

The spokesman said: "We were sorry to hear that an incident involving a customer's dog happened at our Burleigh Waters store over the weekend," he said.

"We have been liaising directly with this customer to offer support and are working towards a resolution."

Ms Sinclair said she paid nearly $500 in vet fees for the incident and Bunnings has reportedly offered to cover those costs as long as she never speaks about it again.

She told the Daily Mail: "I think he [a man from Bunnings management] wants to shut me up and make it go away really quickly.

"He was trying to make me sign something and convince me it was in my interest but I don't think it was in my interest. If I accept that and sign something right now, there will be another vet bill next week, what about then?"

Lisa is calling on Bunnings to have better signage around their escalators and travelators to ensure this doesn't happen to someone else.
