Aussie Sparks Heated Debate About Whether To Use Hot Water Or Milk To Make Milo

Aussie Sparks Heated Debate About Whether To Use Hot Water Or Milk To Make Milo

Apparently, people are fairly split on what they prefer.

It's a question as old as Milo: do you use milk or water to make the iconic Aussie brew?

While everyone will have their answer, the heated debate was brought to a head late last month when a woman on TikTok made a fun video.

User monwarr_ posted the clip showing her have a hypothetical conversation with another person and they suggested they'll whack on the kettle to make up a warm Milo.

But then the social media star reacts in horror, suggesting she only uses milk to concoct the delicious, chocolatey drink.

That sparked a war of words in the comments section, with one person saying: "I can't believe these comments, Milo should never be made with water, you absolute cretins."

Another added: "Water has no place near Milo, hot or cold."

However, there was an equal amount of warm water loving going on.

A user said they had always grown up with Milo and H2O and they don't know any different. A different person added: "Please don't tell me y'all are using warm milk."

To be fair, the latter option is completely and utterly free and there's no use-by date because it comes out fresh from the tap.

So, if you're in the milk category you'll be hoping your liquid is never out of date and you have enough change in your back pocket to afford it every time you want to make a brew.

But there was an even bigger debate sparked last year that revolved around Milo and it seemingly split the country in two: do you have it warm or cold?

After polling nearly 90,000 people, it's clear that the majority of Aussies prefer their Milo cold.

It's an outcome that will likely shock the 31,800 people who reckon the best way to have the drink is to have it hot, but it seems like they were impressively outnumbered.

Nestlé Dairy Business Manager Anna Stewart said: "While there is a clear Aussie favourite, and the results revealed some surprising twists, we couldn't be happier to see people enjoying it both hot and cold, and seeing the passion for Milo as an iconic part of Australian life after all these generations."

The votes aren't surprising when you look at where they were cast.

A whopping 100 percent of people polled in the Northern Territory like their Milo cold, which is understandable given the temperature in the area. In Queensland, 71 percent of respondents prefer it cold, followed by South Australia (67%), New South Wales (66%), Victoria (61%), Western Australia (60%) and Tasmania (54%).

The ACT was the only state or territory that reported a majority of people who like their Milo hot, which, again, isn't surprising considering how cold it can get there in the winter.
