Woolworths Forced To End Its Ooshie Promotion Four Weeks Early After Unprecedented Demand

Woolworths has revealed that unprecedented demand has caused it to end its Ooshie promotional offer.

The little bits of plastic can be picked up every time you spend $30 and there are 36 to collect. The toys are modelled after classic and iconic Disney characters and some of them are rarer than others.

There have been thousands of parents rushing to the shopping aisles to get their mitts on as many as possible so that they can complete a set.

However, this rush has caused everywhere in Australia, except for Victoria, to run out of Ooshies. As a result, Woolies says it will have to end the promotion early.

Woolworths' Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks said in a statement: "We're thrilled to see how many customers have enjoyed collecting the Disney+ Ooshies since its launch.

"We partnered with Disney+ to bring more excitement and magic to our customers' shop, particularly during a very challenging year.

"It's apparent customers of all ages have loved collecting these Disney+ Ooshies and their popularity completely exceeded our expectations.

"Because of this, we expect the last of our stock to be collected by the end of this weekend. I want to reassure our Victorian customers these lower stock levels do not apply to them.

"We created a separate allotment from when we delayed the launch of the program due to Stage 4 lockdowns and they can continue collecting in the weeks ahead while supplies last.

"We'd like to thank our team for their support in executing the program in stores and online and our customers for helping us create such a memorable program."

The promotion was meant to end on October 20, however it looks like the good times will come to an end.

No doubt this announcement will cause absolute chaos for mums and dads who thought they might have had more time to complete their sets.

To get a sense of how big a deal these little toys are you just have to look at eBay.

There have been plenty of rare and ultra rare Ooshies listed on the site and one was even going for $14,400 with dozens of bids.
