Bloke Tells Wife She Should Buy Him Two Beers Each Round To Make Up Price Difference

Bloke Tells Wife She Should Buy Him Two Beers Each Round To Make Up Price Difference

A woman has asked for people’s opinions after her husband told her she should be getting him two beers every round she buys as her wine costs more than his beer

The woman explained that her other-half would ‘get the hump’ with her after he would fork out up to £8 for a glass of wine for her, while his beer cost around a fiver.

Posting on Mumsnet, the anonymous woman asked if other users thought her husband was being ‘ridiculous’ by requesting she get him two drinks to make up for the price difference.

She explained: “My husband gets the hump with me when we go to the pub as I order my favourite wine and it can cost between £6-8 for a large glass depending on where we are. His pint is usually £3-5.

"He is a tight a*** and I'm trying to come to terms with it, but I wonder if I should order a small glass or a cheaper drink when he's paying and order what I want when I pay.

"He (half jokingly, I hope) said that I should buy him two pints when it's my round to make up for it. I told him that was ridiculous, but is it?"

She then asked if people reckoned she should just order a cheaper drink when it was his round, or whether she should continue to order whatever she wanted.

Fellow Mumsnet users largely sided with the woman, with some even branding her husband ‘pathetic’ for his comments.

One person commented: “That's really tight! I wouldn't expect spirits to be part of a round but wine is fine.”

Someone else wrote: "He's quibbling over about £3-4 per round, and would prefer you to have a drink you don't want. I could not stand this level of meanness.

“Next time, order a bottle and tell him to buy his own. Does he split a packet of ready salted one crisp at a time too?”

A third said: “Pathetic to moan about £3-4. Not like he's buying every single round himself.”

But not everyone agreed, with another commenter adding: “I change my order if someone else is paying to something with a more reasonable cost.

“It's OK saying it's only £3-4, however if you each get two rounds and go out three times a week that adds up, if however you go out once a month for a quick drink it's a different matter.”
