A mum was over the moon when she found a winning golden ticket in a bar of Aldi chocolate, saying she can now afford her ‘dream extension’ for her house.
The popular supermarket has been giving shoppers the chance to win money with golden tickets hidden inside its Dairyfine Golden Giveaway Chocolate Bars, worth either £5,000 or £10,000 ($6,000 to $13,000).
Sian Walker, 43, became one of the lucky winners after picking up the chocolate bar with her son while visiting the Aldi store on Station Road in Nantwich, Cheshire.
She said the prize will make a huge difference to her life, with plans to spend the money on home renovation.
Walker recalled how she was ‘joking’ with her son and pretended they had already won.
But little did they know that inside the chocolate bar was a genuine golden ticket worth thousands.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it. I first picked up one of the smaller bars of chocolate then swapped it for the larger one to share with my son.
"We were joking around pretending we had won and then when we opened it up it was such a surprise to see the golden ticket inside!
“It’s such an amazing gift and has come just in time for helping us build our dream extension on our home.
"Thank you so much Aldi, this really is going to make such a big difference!”
Aldi’s nationwide competition started last month, with 25 golden tickets distributed across the country.
Each ticket has a cash prize assigned to it, with just five of the tickets worth the top prize of £10,000.
All shoppers have to do to be in with a chance of winning is buy themselves one of the giant-sized 800g chocolate bars costing £4.99.
If you then find a golden ticket in the contents of your wrapper, the cash can be claimed on the Aldi website via an application form.
All prizes have to be claimed by 24 January 2022.
Better still, only three winners across the country have been announced so far, meaning that 22 golden tickets – including some worth £10,000 – are still up for grabs.
And of course the worst case scenario is that you're left with a giant bar of chocolate to eat up, which might just take the sting out of missing out on the money.Featured Image Credit: MEN Media
