An Adele impersonator is set to go under the knife in a bid to look more like the slim star.

Maria Herriott, from Walthamstow, London, makes a living out of performing as the award-winning singer, but following the 32-year-old's recent weight loss, she is now planning to fork out £11,000 ($13,700) to look more like her.

Ms Herriott, who currently weighs 20 stone, is to have a gastric bypass to shed eight stone to mimic the 'Skyfall' singer's appearance.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, the 43-year-old said: "Surgery isn't an easy option but I hope it'll be the solution.

"I've taken out a big loan to cover the cost but I hope the gigs I get off the back of it will cover that twice over."

Adding: "The surgeons say I can get to 11st - but I'll be happy with 12st."

The real Adele has shed a fair amount of weight over recent months, with fans in utter disbelief at her results.

Last month, the singer donned her old dress from Glastonbury as she watched her performance from home as it was broadcast on BBC - showing off the remarkable seven stone weight loss.

In a rare Instagram post, the singer - whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins - revealed she had put on her dress from the performance as she watched on '5 ciders in'.

She revealed the extent of her weight loss to a fan while on holiday in Antigua.

Lexi Larson, 19, from Massachusetts, didn't recognise Adele at first - but then when Harry Styles rocked up too she pieced together that it was indeed Adele she was talking to.

Speaking to People, Lexi said: "Adele came over and sat down next to me and my friend and was like, 'So what can I do for you girls?'

"We were so excited. We were talking to her for a little while, and then she got Harry Styles to come over and sit with us also. We took a picture with Harry, and we talked to them for 15 minutes probably.

"They were more asking us questions. It was a really positive experience. It was really cool.

"She said she lost something like 100lbs, and that it's such a crazy positive experience. She seemed so happy, and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident."
