As it looks increasingly like we're going to be sitting around indoors for the next wee while, it's time to scope out some new recommendations to watch, and they don't come much higher than the forthcoming YouTube Originals series Birthday Song.

The premise is simple: take a famous musician, get them to find out which song was number one in the charts on the day that they were born, and follow their journey as they attempt to make their own cover of it. Along the road we get some insight from the artist themselves about their life growing up, their career and how they've evolved as a person and as an artist over the years.

Fascinating stuff, if the guest is right - and for the first one the guest is indeed right as it's none other than Lewis Capaldi.

Lewis Capaldi enjoyed being 'slagged off' by Noel Gallagher.

YouTube has released a trailer for the first episode of the series and it features the much-loved Scottish singer-songwriter discovering that number one when he was born on 7th October 1996 was dance/rock crossover smash Setting Sun by Chemical Brothers and Noel Gallagher - a banger for sure, but more banging than the number one on my birthday, Always On My Mind by Pet Shop Boys? I'm not so sure.

The song presents an interesting challenge for the more balladeering Capaldi, and it'll be interesting to see how he interprets a track that tied together the dying embers of the late 80's acid house movement with the 90's move into the big beat of the Chems, Fatboy Slim et al.

Indeed, Lewis seems aware of the task he's got ahead of him in the trailer, making a plea to Noel Gallagher "If I f*ck your song up, I'm sorry."

"Lewis discovers the song he was born to sing," says YouTube of the series' debut star.

The video will explore Lewis's early beginnings and meteoric rise to fame.

"Follow him through the process of fashioning his own unique version of his birthday song and learn about how he became the person he is today: a lyricist, a singer, a performer, a jokester and natural-born attention seeker- a story told by the people closest to him."

Those involved include not just Capaldi himself but his older brother Warren, who is cited as a major influence on the star's career, and who quips in the trailer "I should be getting a cut of his royalties."

It all looks like heart warming, interesting stuff, and we can't wait to hear how the 23 year-old does the original Setting Sun justice.

Birthday Song launches on YouTube on 24th March 2020.
