Slipknot's Shawn Crahan - also known as the band's infamous Clown - tore a tendon in his bicep whilst on-stage at a music festival last week.

In a massive bout of OW-YAZ, Crahan was smashing a metal barrel with a baseball bat on-stage at Knotfest in Los Angeles when the barrel fought back and knacked his arm on the rebound.

Crahan shared a video of the incident, which clearly shows the moment his arm gives way and his Clown persona gets buckled to his knee.

He's absolutely nails though, as you would expect after more than 20 years in Slipknot, so after the shortest of breathers, he decides to start leathering the barrel again like a man who hasn't just recently suffered an excruciating injury.

What a champ.

It did put him out of the Welcome to Rockville Festival in Florida the following night though - as he had to have surgery on the banjaxed bicep.

"Ladies and gentlemen, if you look close enough you can pinpoint the exact frame where clown completely tore the bicep tendon from the radial tuberosity with proximal retraction, proximal to the coronoid fossa of the humerus," he wrote to fans on Instagram.

"With that being said, you may have realized I was not on stage in Florida with my brothers and my culture tonight. For this fact, I am saddened.

"I had surgery today in Los Angeles, everything went great and I am recovering peacefully.

"I can't express how happy and blessed I am to have been able to come back to touring after all that we as a community have been through the last couple years. And I promise we will see you all very soon. Thank you."

Earlier this year, Slipknot fans were rocked by the death of founder member Joey Jordison.

"Joey's death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow," a statement from his family said.

"To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music."

Slipknot was formed by Jordison and Crahan, along with bassist Paul Gray when they were playing under the name Meld in 1994.

Joey suggested they switch the name to Slipknot a year later and originally recruited guitarists Donnie Steele and Josh Brainard and singer Anders Colsefni, before expanding their band to nine members.
