A 14-year-old girl has been confirmed as a victim of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Nell Jones, from Goostrey, who is believed to have been on crutches at the event, has been confirmed dead today.

It's understood that Nell had been recently using crutches following a ligament injury.

Prior to the announcement there had been a search to find the teenager.

Knutsford Young Farmers posted on its Facebook page: "One of our members and close friend Nell Jones was at the concert last night and sadly is still missing! If anyone hears from Nell please let someone know! #PrayForNell."

Her cousin, Hollie Webb, also posted an appeal on social media, saying: "This is our cousin Nell Jones aged 14 missing in Manchester after the concert last night, please could everybody share for our family, if anyone knows of anywhere we can try as we are heading to Manchester now x."

Dennis Oliver, headteacher of Nell's school, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive and Sixth Form, said: "Today has been a very difficult day for the school, children and families following the terrible events of yesterday evening.

"The children have been very stoic throughout the day, which has been as calm and purposeful as possible in the circumstances. Our children and staff have supported each other amazingly well. Staff have been providing additional time and space for children to be with their friends or to talk to an adult. The whole school community has been incredibly mutually supportive.

"We know that one of our students was badly injured and is in hospital. A second student is still unaccounted for. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, in what is a most difficult time for them. There is lots of information circulating, not all of it is accurate. We are working closely with the parents of the children and are therefore asking for everyone to respect the privacy of the families."

It comes after Martyn Hett of Stockport was named as another victim of the Manchester terror attack.

The 29-year-old was attending the concert with his friend, who he was separated from just prior to the blast, he was the 10th person to be named as a victim of the suicide bombing.

The news was confirmed on social media this morning by his ex-boyfriend Russell Hayward.
