A Massive 13-Storey Roller Coaster Is Opening Next Year

A huge 13-storey rollers coaster is set to open next year, promising to become the world's 'longest, tallest, fastest single rail coaster'.

The Jersey Devil Coaster is coming to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, and is due to open at some point in 2020.

The promotional video for the ride illustrates what it will look like when completed, and let's just say I've already got clammy palms just thinking about it.

Reaching speeds of up to 58mph, the roller coaster will feature a 130ft drop that plummets riders 'into the dark woods' on a steep, 87-degree first drop, along with a raven dive, overbank cutback, 180-degree stall and a zero-gravity roll.

Riders will sit low and single file - no leaning over to hold your mum's hand, sadly - with their legs straddling either side of the 3,000ft-long monorail track.

The Six Flags website says: "Soar single file through the dark and foreboding woods on the world's longest, tallest, fastest single rail coaster.

"Towering 13 storeys and reaching speeds up to 58mph, riders will straddle the single-rail and experience three intense elements and two inversions over 3,000 feet of track."

Great Adventure park president John Winkler said: "Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the best and most innovative roller coasters on the planet, and we are thrilled to expand our unrivaled collection with the Jersey Devil Coaster.

"Jersey Devil folklore has been a source of fear and intrigue here in the Pine Barrens for more than 200 years, and this iconic piece of New Jersey history inspired the design for this monstrous scream machine."

Many people can't wait for the new ride to open, with one tweeting bravely: "BRING. IT. ON."

Someone else commented: "I can definitely get with this. I can't wait."

Another added: "Oh hell yeah."

A fourth said: "Awesome can't wait!!!"

Reckon you're brave enough? Because I'm gonna be honest, I sure as hell am not.

Thankfully you've got until next year to pluck up the courage...
