A woman has taken to Twitter to share an unnerving story about an 'airline creep', who she says asked a teenage girl sat next to him for a 'dirty' photo.

Journalist Joanna Chiu began a 'thread about airline creeps' on Twitter, explaining she had been on a plane from a late-evening stopover.

But while she was very tired and had a row to herself to sleep, Chiu says she couldn't help but notice what was going on behind her.

"A man appearing in his late thirties was obviously delighted to be seated next to a teenager separated from the rest of her family," Chiu tweeted.

"He started off by asking about her career plans and laughed when she said she wanted to be CEO and kept giving her ridiculous advice."

Chiu says the girl was 'friendly', which the man seemed to take as a welcome cue to 'get very familiar'.

He started teasing her, and kept telling her he wanted to take her out to eat - despite the fact she was trying to ignore him.

Chiu realised she had to stay awake in case anything went further. It did.

She continued: "As soon as he asked for a 'dirty' photo while leaning close to her I turned around and rage-whispered exactly what I thought of that and he didn't say anything back and went off to use the washroom."

Another woman had also noticed the man's inappropriate behaviour, and while he was gone she told the teenager she had the right to change seats.

Chiu then went to notify a flight attendant, before the head of the flight service asked the man to move.

"He resisted then started swearing at me and asked to talk to the boss," Chiu said.

"The head flight attendant said, 'I'm the boss, this is really serious and we could land the plane.'

"He moved. The attendants checked in with the young woman and wrote up a report. They handled the situation well as far as I could tell, and it's good to know other adult women passengers on the plane were paying attention and taking action while trying not to embarrass the teen."

Chiu noted that none of the male passengers on board had decided to step in.

As they disembarked the plane, security was apparently ready to take the man to one side and have a word with him. He, unsurprisingly, looked like he was 'sweating bullets'.

While Chiu didn't want to disclose the airline or the man's personal details, she added: "Oh, and I also caught his name and the company he works for. I'll be sending a private note to them."

Bravo to Chiu and the other women who helped the teenager.
