America's 'Highest Paid' Sex Worker Suing Nevada For Closing Down Brothels

An American sex worker who says she earns more than one million dollars every year is suing the state of Nevada for loss of income after the legal brothels were closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Alice Little, who has been described in the past as America's 'highest paid' and most successful sex worker, has filed a claim against the state's governor Stephen Sisolak in October, and it's set to go before the court soon.

Little claims she's been denied earning because brothels haven't been able to open again, while other businesses have.

The Irish-born sex worker started out in 2016, but was declaring earnings of more than $1 million (£750,000) by 2018.

That all ceased on 17 March this year when the Covid-19 crisis bit hard. Nevada went into lockdown, like most places around the world, and that meant the state's legal brothels had to shutter their businesses.

On top of that, it's been reported that because the sex workers who ply their trade in these brothels are contractors, they have found it tough to claim unemployment benefits.

Some of the restrictions were lifted in May, and Nevada's famous casinos were allowed to operate once again in early June, but the Moonlite BunnyRanch - where Little is employed - has not been allowed to reopen.

In a GoFundMe post appealing for funds for her legal challenge, Little wrote: "Nevada's governor has unfairly kept the legal brothels closed while allowing other high-contact businesses, such as massage parlors, spas, and salons, to reopen."

She argues that the decision not to allow them to reopen is 'particularly arbitrary given that Governor Sisolak announced the resumption of all other economic activity... on August 3.'

Little added: "He [Sisolak] has, without any rational basis, decided to single out brothels."

In her claim, she also argues that sex workers could be allowed to work from home, thus 'suspending the requirement that sex workers ply their trade only in licensed brothels'.

However, the governor has not done this.

Little has claimed for compensation for the damage to her business, as well as the loss of her constitutional rights.

Despite her complaints, it doesn't seem like it's made Sisolak's immediate to-do list just yet.

A few weeks before the suit was filed, he told The Nevada Independent: "We're going to have to look at getting kids back into schools before we look at getting folks back into brothels.

"We'll be addressing it sometime, certainly, but it's not in the immediate future."

So far, Little has raised almost $8,500 (£6338) towards her goal of $50,000.
