Ever experienced a delay to your flight because birds are preventing the plane from taking off? At Bentonville Airport it's apparently a big issue. Which is why staff have found the ideal solution: a dog.

Yes, far from usual reasons like weather disruption or waiting for other connecting flights, it seems that geese are to blame for many of the late running flights coming from the runway at the Arkansas, US airport - but bosses have appointed a very good boy to deal with it.

A dedicated 'Goose Dog', nicknamed Flyaway Wyatt, has taken on the gruelling challenge of getting himself up to task for the important job at Flyaway Geese, a company which specifically trains dogs to chase away birds from properties.

While the new pup is being put through its paces, the folks at Flyaway Geese have lent the airport one of their trained-up pooches to chase away the pesky geese, and posted some adorable pictures of him as he got to grips with the position.

While Wyatt's training continues, there's even a stand-in - Flyaway Greg is upholding the company's standards for a couple of months.

Flyaway Geese shared an adorable picture of Greg to Instagram recently, with the doggo wearing a pair of goggles while ensuring a nearby helicopter could take off safely, away from the attentions of the troublesome geese.

The pic was captioned: "Flyaway Greg is starting his 60-day stay at the airport in Bentonville, AR. He will be here until their dog is finished."

Greg will return to Flyaway Geese when his young replacement is trained up. Bentonville Airport does have something important to decide, however, before Wyatt can fully begin his role - what to call him.

Yes, staff have decided Wyatt needs a new name and they've taken to Facebook to ask their followers what they think.

A Facebook post reads: "What is your pick - Oz? Razor? Thad? Maverick? Or something else? Post your suggestions and help us pick the perfect name."

Maverick seems popular in the comments, although there have been an array of other name suggestions, ranging from Francis, to Chase and, uhhh, Rudder. Sure, why not.

At any rate it seems Benton Airport can barely wait for the pup to get cracking. Looks like his appointment is going to be a popular choice indeed.
