Two adorable baby bears were saved by a state trooper in Virginia after their mum was hit by a car and killed.

The pair of tiny black bears were photographed being held by Sr. Trooper DH Cepelnik and shared on social media where they have since received thousands of likes and shares and loads of comments.

I mean, it's easy to see why, look how cute they are:

Thanks to the quick actions of the trooper, they have since been placed in the care of the Wildlife Centre of Virginia in Waynesboro, where the expert team will look after the little cubs before releasing them into the wild when they're old enough.

The little bears will be checked over by a vet, tagged to help identify them and then housed together while they're still small and need to be bottle-fed by staff.

When they're big enough they'll be moved into an outdoor enclosure before eventually being released into the wild next year.

The centre recently shared a post announcing that some of the orphaned and displaced black bear cubs from last year had successfully been placed back into the wild.

So there's hope that these two little cuties will have a shot at a happy life despite being orphaned at such a young age.

Social media users were quick to hail the trooper a hero for rescuing the tiny bears and thanking him for going above and beyond to ensure the bears were safe. Good work.
