SAS soldiers are reported to be on a "kill not capture" revenge mission after the death of one of their fellow special forces soldiers.

So far, at least 12 Jihadi fighters are rumoured to have been taken out after targeted attacks on bomb making factories in Northern Syria.

Their fallen comrade, Sergeant Matt Tonroe, was killed alongside a US Delta Force soldier when a roadside explosive device went off.

Hours after that it has been reported that Special Forces soldiers were back in operation near the Manbij area of Syria to retaliate against the Islamic State forces that are thought to have killed the 33-year-old Tonroe.

Two terrorists are thought to have been taken out as they attempted to lay another improvised explosive device by the side of a road.

A drone strike on an Islamic State bomb factory saw at least another six left dead last week.

A Special Forces insider told The Sun: "The attacks have been unrelenting - assaults are being launched night and day.

"We're not giving the terrorists room to breathe or recover. These are kill-not-capture missions.

"They can run but they can't hide. If they fight they die."

An MOD spokesperson told LADbible: "We neither confirm nor deny reports of UK Special Forces activity."

Sergeant Tonroe was originally a member of the 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment (3 Para) before being selected for SAS membership. He was born in Manchester and specialised as a sniper.

He died alongside a US Delta Force soldier, Master Sergeant Jonathan Dunbar.

A Pentagon statement after the incident read: "Coalition forces, in an advise, assist and accompany capacity with our partners, were conducting a mission to kill or capture a known ISIS member when they were struck by an improvised explosive device,

"This operation was part of the Coalition's mission to defeat ISIS, and we remain focused on our mission."

Delta Force is a US Army elite special mission unit similar to the UK's SAS.

After his tragic death, Sgt Tunroe's commanding officer said that he "had a steel core, served his country with pride and was a first class soldier, proven in combat, faced risk willingly and was ever ready for more.

"He thus died as he lived: daring and fearless in duty.

"We mourn his loss dearly, are proud to have known him and will honour him by continuing this fight."
