According to reports, the male shooter, who was wearing black, is still at large. It is not yet clear whether the injuries sustained by those at the school were from gunshots or not.
It has also been reported that Sheriff Alex Villanueva told local media that the suspect was a student at the school.
Police have said they believe there only to be one gunman but "are actively investigating and following all leads".
Since the news broke, the country's media has descended on the school, with live helicopter footage being streamed from showing students walking in single file behind armed officers as authorities search the area for the assailant.
