South Australian Police Arrest Couple For Turning Up To Court In A Stolen Car

Goddamn face palm.

When you've been caught doing something wrong, most people will cop it and accept the punishment.

If you have to go to court, you try to be on your best behaviour just so you don't give the judge or magistrate any reason to dislike you and make your punishment worse.

You'd surely not try and do anything illegal just on the off-chance it adds to your sentence. Well, try telling that to two people in South Australia who just got done for possibly the dumbest thing in history.

Local police have posted about the incident, which has since gone wild on social media with many people perplexed as to who could be this stupid.

"A man and woman were arrested after turning up for court in a stolen car at Christies Beach yesterday," the police statement said.

"Police noticed the blue Holden sedan parked in a fast food car park near the Christies Beach Magistrates Court about 2pm on Tuesday 30 July. Checks revealed the car had been stolen from Blakeview on 23 July.

"The alleged driver, a 34-year-old Whyalla man, had just attended court in relation to charges of illegal use of a motor vehicle.

"He and his passenger, a 23 -year-old Whyalla woman, were both arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle.

"The driver was also charged with driving while disqualified. He did not apply for bail and will reappear in court today.

"The woman was granted bail to attend the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 29 August, when, hopefully, she will catch the bus."

That last line is the best - they genuinely sound really hopeful this woman won't be so stupid again.

The charge of 'illegal use of a motor vehicle' is pretty vague but imagine if they were turning up for court because they had already been arrested for using a stolen car. IMAGINE.

But if you think that is stupid, what about the idiot in New South Wales that crashed a van carrying $200 million worth of ice into a parked police car outside a goddamn police station.

It didn't take long for police to track down the driver of the van and you can be damn sure he's now been charged.

NSW Police have released a statement saying: "Following inquiries, an inspector from Ryde Police Area Command stopped the HiAce on Church Street, Ryde.

"The inspector spoke to the male driver before conducting a search of the van.

"During the search, police located moving boxes, which contained multiple bags of a crystalline substance, with presumptive testing returning a positive indicator for methylamphetamine."

While it seems like police have everything they need in order to prosecute the bloke who's been charged, they're still looking for anyone with CCTV footage of the van travelling through Sydney before the car incident.
