Thousands of firefighters have been battling intense bushfires across Australia for several months. They've had an 'unprecedented' start to the bushfire season and, if forecasts are correct, they'll be up against some horror conditions in the next few days.

Crews have revealed that fighting these infernos day and night, sometimes doing 12 hour shifts, has started taking its toll.

People have been donating all sorts of things to their local fire brigades, but one Aussie bloke has been captured handing over a case of beer.

Declan Mcdonald was pictured on Snapchat giving over a crate of Emu Export to his community brigade in Yanchep, north of Perth, over the weekend.

He's told Daily Mail Australia: "I had been cutting trees back at my parents' place and knocked a couple back myself and thought the crew out there would enjoy a few cold ones.

"Plus the work they've done is amazing. So many men and women working together from different organisations and companies to keep our families, friends, bushland and wildlife safe.

"Honestly a box of beer is the least I could do."

The Yanchep fire started threatening homes and lives six days ago when it flared up during hot conditions and the threat is still present. Around 300 firefighters are still battling the blaze, down from 400, and the fire has so far burned through 13,000 hectares of land.

Firefighters around the country will certainly be bracing for some pretty awful conditions over the next days.

Australia could face the hottest day in its history this week, with forecasters warning temperatures could surpass the current record of 50.7C.

Perth, on the west coast of the country, is in the grips of a heatwave with temperatures reaching around 40C, however this heat is expected to spread across the country this week.

Fire warnings have been issued for parts of Western Australia and Queensland and it is feared that soaring temperatures could pose a threat to both people and animals.

Diana Eadie, meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), said it is possible that temperatures could exceed the record set on 2 January 1960 in the outback town of Oodnadatta in South Australia. She also said it was likely the country's highest overall average maximum record would be broken.
