Baffled Driver Tries To Fill Up Tesla At A Gas Station

Teslas run on electric

A man was filmed attempting to put fuel into his electric Tesla, before shouting 'f***' and driving away.

You can't do anything stupid without being caught out these days, as this guy in Las Vegas will be able to vouch for.

The unsuspecting victim was seemingly unaware that the Model 3 he had parked up at a gas station ran purely on electric, when magician Justin Flom's dash cam caught the whole thing.

In the video, someone can be heard asking: "At a gas station?"

The driver gets out of the car, wearing a face mask and starts looking around for something. He ducks in to the car again and the man says: "Maybe he's just throwing something away?"

But the driver of the Tesla then gets back out with his wallet, to which the man says: "Nope, he's not, oh my gosh."

The unsuspecting driver then pops open the charging port of the car, trying to put the fuel nozzle in. He looks bemused as he realises the fuel nozzle won't fit

He then has a look in the boot, before moving to the other side of the car to have a look there. Of course - there was no fuel cap, but the bemused driver still doesn't realise.

Frustrated at the lack of fuel cap on the electric car, he has a look at the front, even popping open the hood and having a look around.

Clearly unable to find the non-existent fuel cap, he decides to take the query to Google and angrily gets his mobile out to search for answers.

Obviously, the answer must have struck him pretty quickly. You can almost pinpoint the moment when the penny finally drops, and he shouts 'f***' before getting back in the car and driving away.

But the internet wouldn't let him get away with it that easily. The footage was shared on Facebook where, unfortunately for the Tesla driver, it was shared widely.

In the background of the video, people can be heard discussing the possibilities behind the man's confusion - Teslas are famously electric cars.

One woman can be heard speculating that it was his dad's car. Maybe it was even a hire car? Surely, he didn't buy it without realising it ran on electric.

Although many people in the comments found it hilarious, others were more sceptical.

One person said: "I mean this is probably fake. But in the case it isn't, what in the car made him think that he was running on an empty tank and had to stop at a gas station?"

Good question!
