After becoming an overnight viral sensation - not for the first time - because of his choice of attire for Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, Bernie Sanders is selling a range of sweaters bearing the now-iconic photograph to raise money for charity.

The Vermont senator became the talk of the internet when he eschewed the more formal dress code adopted by many - Lady Gaga and Tom Hanks, to name a few - by wrapping up warm in his winter coat and a pair of mitten for Biden and Kamala Harris' swearing in.

Now, if you've got $45 (about £33) you can bag yourself a lovely jumper with Sanders sitting in a chair printed on it.

It's even for a tasteful 'Bernie' printed below, so others will be able to tell what you're referencing, if they're unaware.

The 79-year-old politician's team have decided to have the sweaters made up in order to raise a bit of much-needed cash for Meals on Wheels Vermont, so you'll be doing a bit of good if you buy one, too.

It's listed as the 'Chairman Sanders Crewneck' on their website, and - according to the campaign - it's made of cotton fleece, so it'll keep you as warm as the man himself.

Printed by union workers, the piece has already been the subject of high demand. The website advertising the garment warns customers: "Due to overwhelming demand for this item, it will be three to six weeks until you receive your sweatshirt."

However, if you're a Bernie fan, and you're willing to wait a few weeks, it's a must-have.

Some folks are obviously keen to get hold of one. One Twitter user commented: "How can you not love sweet Bernie Sanders selling a sweatshirt of his mittens meme with 100 per cent of proceeds going to Meals on Wheels in Vermont,"

Another said: "Gotta love Bernie making the best of a great opportunity."

Speaking on The Late Show with Seth Meyers the other night, Sanders addressed his new-found fame, and explained his outfit choice to the show's host

He told Meyers: "I was just sitting there trying to keep warm, trying to pay attention to what was going on."

He also revealed that the mittens he wore were knitted by a school teacher, who has since found her work in high demand.

Sanders continued: "What was really nice, Seth, is the woman who made the mittens, she is a schoolteacher [and] is a very, very nice person.

"And she's been somewhat overwhelmed by the kind of attention that is being shown to her mittens."

Well, it is January. We could all use a warm pair of mittens right now.
