Former Playboy cover model and Miss BumBum winner Flavia Tamayo has been jailed for eight years for prostitution and drug trafficking. Watch CCTV footage of her arrest below:

Tamayo, who also goes by the name of Pamela Pantera, was imprisoned in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo between June and September last year pending trial.

She has now been jailed for eight years, with the court saying she can serve her sentence in a semi-open regime, and that her sentence can be appealed.

Adult film star Tamayo had been part of a drug trafficking scheme, which was run by a criminal organisation set up by sex workers.

Investigators said the star and her accomplices had specialised in the distribution and sale of Class A narcotics, including cocaine.

Police found they had been selling the drugs to wealthy customers in the Federal District, where the country's capital Brasilia is located.

Tamayo's arrest made headlines as she caused something of a scene when police officers tried to apprehend her at a hotel last year, having taken her clothes off in front of the officers and guests.

CCTV footage shows Tamayo - who has been dubbed the 'Powder Queen' - being approached by a guard in July 2020, before being led away.

During raids carried out by police on 5 June 2020 - during which they served a total of 37 arrest warrants - they seized large amounts of cocaine, firearms and ammunition.

At the time, investigators said they believed the criminal organisation run by the prostitutes had a 'sex programme' that involved supplying escorts and drugs to its wealthy clients.

Prostitution itself is not illegal in Brazil, but employing sex workers and running brothels is.

According to The Week, Tamayo was arrested when she was in Espírito Santo for a photoshoot, with police alleging she was also there to meet with clients.

Police spokesman Ricardo Olivera of the 5th Police District, which was in charge of the investigation, said: "She had a very busy schedule and she did not have a fixed place; she travelled throughout Brazil.

Olivera said she had flown 1,600km to see clients, with information placing her in Sao Paulo in the days beforehand.

He added: "We already had information about the time when she would arrive at the hotel.

"I personally positioned myself outside the hotel. When we showed we were serious and that she really would have to go to the [police station], she realised that she really had no way out.

"Then, in that moment, in a psychological lapse, [she] lifted her dress - she was not wearing underwear - and started screaming and struggling in the hotel lobby."

Tamayo once featured on the cover of Playboy magazine in Portugal.

She also previously took part in the Miss BumBum Brazil competition, which she won in 2018.
