British Airways Flights Cancelled Across UK Due To 'IT Failure'

Travellers flying with British Airways today are facing long delays and disruption to over 200 flights across the country, with the airline blaming 'system failures'. According to the BBC, 91 flights have been cancelled so far.

Customers who are caught up in the chaos have taken to social media to complain about the lack of communication, as well as the BA app crashing when trying to find out more information.

A British Airways spokesperson told LADbible that the global airline is 'operating with back-up manual systems to keep our flights operating' and customers on short haul flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports are being given the choice to re-book to another travel day between 8 and 13 August 2019.

Customers whose flights are cancelled are being offered a refund or re-book options and where available customers are having their flights rebooked with other airlines.

In a statement, the airline said: "We are very sorry to our customers for the disruption to their travel plans.

"We are working as quickly as possible to resolve a systems issue which has resulted in a number of cancellations and delays today.

"A number of flights continue to operate, but we are advising customers to check ba.com for the latest flight information before coming to the airport, and to leave additional time.
