Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston says he still can't smell properly after contracting Covid-19.

The loss of these senses is widely known as an after effect of coronavirus and has impacted patients for weeks and sometimes months after having it.

He revealed that he and his wife got the virus early on in the pandemic, but were thankfully only affected mildly.

Speaking on Ellen, he said: "The only thing that lingered, and still is to this day, is that I lost a percentage of my ability to taste and smell.

"I think about 75 percent has come back, but if someone was brewing coffee and I walk into a kitchen, I cannot smell it."

Back in July, he said he felt like 'one of the lucky ones' after he got it, urging people to keep doing what they can to stop the spread.

The Breaking Bad star posted a video on Instagram, wearing a mask as he told followers that he had Covid-19 'a little while ago'.

"Very lucky, very mild symptoms," he said.

Cranston explained how he was left wondering what he could do to help, so he popped down to the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center to donate some of his plasma with Covid-19 antibodies.

"Hopefully the plasma donation can help some other people," he added.

Cranston ended up donating around 840ml of the 'liquid gold' in total, and was even able to watch an old movie in the process.

The actor also went into more detail about his experience with the virus in the video's caption, saying his symptoms had only been mild.

He wrote: "About now you're probably feeling a little tied down, restricting your mobility and like me, you're tired of this!! Well, I just want to encourage you to have a little more patience.

"I was pretty strict in adhering to the protocols and still... I contracted the virus.

"I was one of the lucky ones. Mild symptoms."

Cranston also asked others to continue following measures to help stop the virus from spreading, including face masks - which he said he'd be doing.

He added: "I count my blessings and urge you to keep wearing the damn mask, keep washing your hands, and stay socially distant.

"We can prevail - but ONLY if we follow the rules together. Be well - Stay well."
