Police have released CCTV images of the Manchester suicide bomber on the night he killed 22 concert-goers.

In the pictures, Salman Abedi is seen wearing jeans, trainers, a dark jacket, baseball cap and glasses before the attack on Monday.

It is believed he used a rucksack to carry the shrapnel bomb used against people exiting the Manchester Arena following the Ariana Grande concert.

Greater Manchester Police has not revealed where the footage was taken or the exact time, but have said they have taken 13 people into custody in connection with the atrocity and that the investigation remains 'live'.

Authorities said they have built up a 'detailed picture' of Abedi's movements since he returned to British from Libya on May 18, but are urging the public to come forward with any further information.

The force said in a statement: "We immediately established full command and control of the incident and within an hour of the attack taking place a specialist counter terrorism control room had been established with a first priority of identifying the attacker.

"Specialist counter terrorist forensic teams were sent to try and identify the attacker and within two hours his identity was known."

Earlier today Prime Minister Theresa May announced the UK's terror threat level has been reduced from 'critical' to 'severe'.

This changes means an attack is no longer 'imminently expected' but is still 'highly likely'.

Operation Temperer has seen the military deployed at key locations around the country and will continue until Monday night - after which the soldiers will be told to stand down.

The threat was raised to critical on Tuesday, following the tragic attack.

Anyone with information about the bombing has been asked to call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789321.

If any witnesses have images or footage that they believe can assist police then they can upload them to Ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk.
