A father has shared a heartbreaking letter their child wrote to Father Christmas.

The dad, who the letter says works as a delivery driver, had a look at the note before sending it off to the North Pole, and was blown away by what his little lad, Jonah, wanted from Santa.

He posted a photo of the letter to Reddit, with the caption: "I'm a UPS driver and I cried when I opened up our son's letter to Santa."

Get some tissues at the ready, guys.

It reads: "Dear Santa, I would really like to spend more time with my dad, so I would really love and appreciate it if you could help him get off work early because he is a UPS worker and people are ordering so many presents.

"So I would love it if you could help him in any way. Sincerely, Jonah."

The little lad asked for more time with his dad this Christmas.

Since it was shared on the site, it has received more than 2,000 comments, with users welling up after reading the lad's note.

Some even took to sharing their own stories of missing their parents during the festive season.

Praising the boy for his kindness, one person said: "Dang, this is heart melting. It resonates big with me. My dad worked some late nights for many years during my childhood. He took a lot of overtime and worked his ass off.

"I do hope you can make his Christmas wish come true."

Another said: "I hope every parent in this thread gets a chance to read this. I hope they understand that kids, especially when being difficult, are sometimes demanding such a simple thing."

Some didn't believe the letter was real.

"I know it won't help you at all, but I just want to send you and your family love for the holidays and beyond. Your kids have a rockstar parent and they'll always appreciate it," chimed in a third.

While a fourth added: "You're Jonah's hero, and mine, too.

"The UPS drivers in my neighborhood are professional, patient, and polite. And they work long hours."

But not everyone seems to believe the dad was telling the truth.

Some commented on the post, claiming that it was a fake. Not on Reddit, surely?

"Why do I feel this is faked for karma. Have I been on reddit too long?" asked one user.

While a detective among the group said: "It's fake lol. The 'd' from dad doesn't match."
