Chrissy Teigen had to be rushed to hospital due to excessive bleeding during pregnancy.

The model, who is expecting her third child - a boy - with singer John Legend, falls into the 'high-risk' category and had to be admitted on Sunday (27 September).

She has since, however, assured people that the baby is healthy and doing well.

Chrissy also had to be moved into a new room after she accidentally posted the phone number of her room to her Instagram account.

Speaking to her followers, Chrissy said: "We all know I've been on bed rest for a few weeks. And that's super serious bed rest, like get up to quickly pee and that's it. I take baths twice a week, no showering.

"I was always, always bleeding. I'm about halfway through pregnancy and blood has been going for a month. So like, maybe a little less than a month.

"We're talking more than your period, girls, but definitely not spotting. A lot of people spot and it's usually fine."

She went on to tell fans that while she often experiences bleeding, it got worse over the past weekend and she had to go to hospital.

"But today, the big difference was that it kind of was like you were to turn a faucet on to low and leave it there," she said in a video.

"It's so weird because I feel really good. I'm usually at my happiest pregnant, mood-wise. I feel happier than I do not pregnant.

"That's why it's so hard for me to come to terms with (the situation)... It was at the point today where it was never stopping bleeding."

And while she appreciated the well-wishes and messages of support, the star asked fans to stop with their 'guessing games' and trying to figure out 'what she is doing wrong', saying she has 'very good doctors who know what they're doing'.

Explaining that her 'placenta is really, really weak', Chrissy said her baby was well.

She said: "The baby is so healthy, growing stronger than (the couple's kids) Luna or Miles.

"He moves a lot. He moves so much earlier than they ever did... he's so different than they were. He's strong."

Chrissy added: "I'm so excited for him, because he's so wonderful and just the strongest little dude - so I can't wait for him.

"But he's like the strongest dude in the s****iest house.

"He didn't have the strongest chance at the very beginning, so all we're doing now is trying to make sure he's got a lot of fluid around him and that I'm resting as much as possible."
