A pair of British tourists have been arrested in Spain after local officials discovered them smuggling millions of pounds worth of cocaine and weed.

The "coach drivers" (a.k.a. drug mules) had been travelling around the continent under the pretense of ferrying bands on tour.

However, the Daily Mail reports they had in fact been carrying 17 kilos of cocaine and 750 kilos of cannabis resin with a street value of more than £4million, hidden under a bunk bed and in a cabinet situated on the vehicle. That certainly trumps your average caravan getaway.

The pair, aged 39 and 59, were stopped by Civil Guard officers on the way back from Malaga near the town of Sagunto earlier this week. They currently sit in custody, awaiting the court hearing.

Although no further details on the case have emerged, a judge at the Sagunto's Court of Instruction number four has issued a European Arrest Warrant for the manager of the vehicle firm registered as owning the tour bus.

A Civil Guard spokesman in Valencia said in a statement: "Officers seized 750 kilograms of cannabis resin and 17 kilograms of cocaine during a drugs operation.

'The arrests happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Two British nationals aged 39 and 59 were held in the municipality of Sagunto on the AP7 motorway. As well as the drugs, two mobile phones were seized along with the vehicle."

Drugs were found on the coach.

Meanwhile, a regional government spokesman said: "The UK-plated coach is a luxury vehicle and the type used for long-distance journeys and especially for touring bands. A European International Warrant has been issued for the director of the company which owns the vehicle."

It's not looking good for that coach company. I guess they should vet their drivers more thoroughly in the future - or maybe just get Brendan from Coach Trip on the case. There's no way he'd let this happen under his watch.
