A college football player almost lost an eye after a brawl with a man with many years of MMA experience in the toilets of a bar in Norman, Oklahoma. The video contains some strong language.

In the video, which went viral on Reddit last week, the two men can be seen arguing, before things boil over and one of the men throws a punch.

The fight then moves to the floor of the bar's toilets, where four men grapple and punches are thrown.

One of the men involved, who identified himself on Twitter as Braden Brown, said he and the other man - his brother - had 'no option' but to fight.

He also tweeted that he and his brother have been training in martial arts since they were 12 years old.

He wrote: "Just to get rid of the misconceptions, I'm the fellow in the beanie and that is my brother.

"We ARE NOT wrestlers at any university, we have been wrestling since we were in diapers and MMA/Cage Fighting since we were 12. They gave us no options unfortunately.

"We showed restraint."

The man who was at the bottom of the fight, and appears to have come off worse, was reported to have been Oklahoma football player Spencer Jones.

Norman Police Department has identified all of the parties in the video, and has reported the incident as 'aggravated assault and battery'.

However, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Their full statement reads: "The Norman Police Department was not called to respond to the incident on the date it occurred.

"A report was filed on Feb. 16.

"All individuals involved in the incident have been identified. An active investigation into this incident is ongoing."

Jones is being represented by attorney Woody Glass, who said that his client had surgery to repair his orbital bone, and nearly lost his eye, although that is going to 'come back to normal'.

He also states his climate was 'trying to de-escalate the situation' and instead 'became the victim of the vicious assault you've seen'.

Brown's attorney Steve Sice said in a statement: "What is not shown is the original assault and battery suffered by Mr. Brown at the hands of Mr. Jones and his friend shortly before the captured footage.

"As can be seen, my client's nose and clothing were bloodied prior to the beginning of the video. Mr. Brown was legally justified in defending himself in this matter. As a result, Mr. Brown received several injuries, including a torn bicep which will require surgery.

"We will not make any further comment until the conclusion of the investigation by the authorities.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to pay for Brown's medical bills, so far more than $56,000 (£40,000) has been raised.

He wrote: "I have not commented because there is an on-going investigation. I have been advised to get an attorney.

"I am also facing a surgery from an injury I received while defending myself and will be looking at some unplanned medical bills and time off of work recovering from the surgery. I am a full-time student who works two jobs."

He added: "I will say that YES, there was something that occurred prior to the start of the video as my nose doesn't bleed for no reason.

"After I hire an attorney, I will make a statement so you will know my side of the story."
