A couple have helped bring an 11-year-old girl to safety after they pursued her kidnapper in a car chase - all while alerting cops AND filming it:

Young Charlotte Moccia went missing on Wednesday at 1.26pm, shortly after getting off her bus in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Issuing an amber alert, police explained she was 'last seen being forced into a car'. They also released pictures of the car they believed Charlotte had been taken in.

However, thanks to some quick thinking from a local called Amanda Disley and her husband, who spotted someone that looked like her kidnapper, 24-year-old Miguel Rodriguez, Charlotte was brought to safety just six hours later.

Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood said: "This was a good ending attributable to solid teamwork and cooperation from the public.

"I'm so happy Charlotte is back home with her family and we found her as quickly as we did and I want to thank everyone involved."

Amanda shared the incredible footage of the high-speed chase on Facebook, writing: "Some of the video, sorry for dramaticness but when I saw the person in the back seat being pushed down all we could think about is her and the danger she was in, wasn't even sure if it was the right car just the gut feeling my husband and I had by the rims and the funny movements in the car."

Her post has now been shared more than 5,000 times, with one person commenting: "This gives me the chills god bless you guys."

Another agreed: "Gives me chills... God put you at the right place at the right time."

In the clip, Amanda Disley can be heard talking to the dispatcher, telling her: "They're turning down streets trying to avoid me. They're trying to lose me, they're trying to ditch me!"

At another point the suspect's vehicle turns into a liquor store, which is when Amanda and her husband get a good look at him.

"There's a kidnapper!" they shout.

"It's him, it's him!"

In a later post, Amanda gave a shout out to 'Jackie the 911 dispatcher', writing: "She was amazing, through my husband and I screaming she calmed us down and handled business she was in point.

"She even called us later to let us know the plates we gave caught him. Thank you Jackie."

Rodriguez was arrested and transported to the Charlton Barracks for booking, while Charlotte was found 'safe and sound', State Police said.

Charlotte's parents, Carl and Denise Moccia, have since thanks those who helped their daughter - with special praise for Amanda and her husband.

Denise Moccia said in a statement: "My husband and I would like to thank our neighbors; the State, Chicopee and Springfield police especially Detectives John Lopez and Angel Marrero, Captain Trent Duda, Mayor Sarno, Commissioner Clapprood; all local and national news outlets, family, friends, our Hampden Charter and St. Michael's school communities, the doctor, nurse and social worker who assisted Charlotte in the ER; and strangers near and far who, via social media, got the word out to help bring Charlotte home."

The statement continued: "In particular, we'd like to thank Amanda Disley and her husband for their vigilance and courage for putting themselves in harm's way to make sure she wasn't out of their sight.

"The outpouring of love and support, near and far, is overwhelming. We are eternally grateful."
