At least four people have been injured in a shooting in Canada near the Toronto Raptors victory parade.

Toronto Police tweeted about a shooting in the area, saying injuries were 'serious' but not life threatening.

They also said that two firearms have been recovered and three people had been arrested.

Crowds could be seen running away from the scene in footage shared on social media.

Toronto Star reporter Jennifer Pagliaro said she could see people 'running' from the roof of City Hall.

The parade was in celebration of the Toronto Raptors basketball team recently being crowned NBA champions, with crowds dressed in the team's colours lining streets of the route.

According to the Toronto Sun, police were working to stop more people from entering Nathan Phillip's Square at the heart of the festivities, as it was at capacity.

Canadian Prime Minister tweeted: "I hope all those injured in today's shooting have a speedy recovery, and I'd like to thank the Toronto Police for acting so quickly. We won't let this act of violence take away from the spirit of today's parade."
