A cyclist says he was knocked off his bike after someone threw an Argos catalogue at him.

The man, who called himself Noel, recounted the bizarre story during a phone call to an Irish radio programme earlier today.

Speaking to Northern Sound's The Joe Finnegan Show today, he claims he was a stone's throw from his home on the Cootehill to Cavan Road at 4pm on Sunday, March 24 when the attack happened.

Noel described the incident, saying he was thrown from his bike after a passenger from a passing car chucked the book at him, forcing him to fall into the middle of the road.

Another motorists stopped to check if he was ok and attempted to chase the car, but was unfortunately unable to get the number plate down.

Noel reported the incident to the police and says he's confident of catching them.

The disgruntled cyclist told the presenter he had reported the incident to the local police, though according to reports, a spokesperson said they couldn't find any record of such a report.

Noel said he thinks 'pranks' such as these are a growing concern but he's confident they will catch the person or people responsible.

He said: "Unfortunately, the girl - she took after them after she got me up off the ground - she went out as far as Rathkenny (in Co Meath) to see if she could catch up with them and get a number plate.

"Unfortunately she didn't, but we're not despairing Joe, there's lots of private cameras around the Cavan road.

"I'm truly confident that the number plate will be got."

The caller said he was knocked off his bike after someone threw an Argos catalogue at him from a passing car.

Why can't people just play nice pranks on each other, like footballer Dele Alli who cheekily gave his teammate, Raheem Sterling, a 'wet willy' while away on England duty.

While the Manchester City man was catching some shut eye on the team plane, Tottenham Hotspur whizz Dele Alli took the opportunity to strike.

In a video shared by the 22-year-old on his Instagram account, he can be seen creeping up on Sterling before licking his index finger and dipping it into his ear.

After keeping it there for a few seconds, it becomes clear that Sterling is in a very deep sleep and realising he's not getting the reaction he was expecting Alli changes things up, this time using his middle finger.

A sure fire way of waking up his snoozing mate, at least that's what you'd think.

But again, Sterling remains unmoved by the prank. So in an effort to rescue things, Ali decides enough is enough and just holds the player's nose, essentially suffocating him, until his compatriot wakes up.
