Debris Suspected To Belong To Missing Boeing 737-500 Found

Debris suspected to belong to the Boeing 737-500 that disappeared earlier today has been recovered.

Deputy Chairman of the Seribu Regency Council, Jefri, confirmed that officers and local residents have pulled parts out of the waters of Male Island, Kepulauan Seribu.

The Sriwijaya Air flight was travelling from Jakarta to Pontianak in Indonesia when it fell 10,000ft just four minutes after departure.

Indonesian Transport Ministry spokesperson, Adita Irawati, confirmed there has been a loss of contact with the Sriwijaya Air aircraft, CNBC Indonesia reports.

According to local news site Berita Satu, there were 59 passengers on board - 53 adults, five children, and one baby.

Flightdar24 tweeted: "Sriwijaya Air flight #SJ182 lost more than 10.000 feet of altitude in less than one minute, about 4 minutes after departure from Jakarta.

"We are downloading and processing granular ADS-B data for flight #SJ182 We will publish the data in the next hours."
