Former US president Donald Trump has urged supporters to boycott Major League Baseball (MLB), Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola after they opposed Georgia's new voting act.

Despite Trump previously criticising 'cancel culture', he called on his fans to avoid the major institutions, claiming that baseball is losing 'tremendous numbers of fans'.

The latest controversy is down to The Election Integrity Act, which passed last month in the state. It means that new rules around voter identification could be brought in, and restricts food and drink provision near polling stations.

Coca Cola boss James Quincy said it was wrong, while Delta CEO Ed Bastian branded it 'unacceptable'.

Rob Manfred, MLB Commissioner, confirmed that the All-Star Game would be moved from Atlanta, Georgia, to object the new act.

He said: "I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year's All-Star Game and MLB draft. Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box."

In response, Trump said: "Now they leave Atlanta with their All-Star Game because they are afraid of the Radical Left Democrats who do not want voter ID, which is desperately needed, to have anything to do with our elections.

"Boycott baseball and all of the woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections. Are you listening Coke, Delta and all!"

But the ex-president has previously been vocal about his views towards 'cancel culture', which he once called a 'left-wing cultural revolution'.

Speaking at a rally in Mount Rushmore in July 2020, he said: "Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children.

The then-president gave a speech in which he railed against the 'new far-left fascism'.

"Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities.

"They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive, but no; the American people are strong and proud and they will not allow our country and all of its values, history and culture to be taken from them."

He continued: "Make no mistake: this left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American revolution.

"Our children are taught in school to hate their own country and believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes but were villains. The radical view of American history is a web of lies."
