Donald Trump has said his lawyer Rudy Giuliani has tested positive for coronavirus.

Posting on Twitter, Trump urged Giuliani to 'get better soon'.

Giuliani has been leading Trump's efforts to overturn the US election result, which both he and Trump have baselessly claimed was fraudulent.

Giuliani, who is the former mayor of New York City, is yet to confirm he has tested positive.

Trump has not mentioned if Giuliani, 76, has been showing symptoms of Covid-19, nor has he shared when he tested positive.

Back in October, Trump also caught coronavirus, as did wife Melania and son Barron.

Trump was admitted to the Walter Reed Medical Centre, where he received an experimental drug treatment that had only been used in severe cases.

Speaking after he left hospital, Trump said catching the virus had been 'a blessing in disguise'.

He said: "For me, I walked in, I didn't feel so good and 24 hours later I was feeling great.

"I feel great. I feel like, perfect. I think this was a blessing from God, that I caught it. This was a blessing in disguise. I caught it, I heard about this drug, I said let me take it, it was my suggestion.

"I said, let me take it. And it was incredible the way it worked, incredible. And I think if I didn't catch it, we'd be looking at that like a number of other drugs. But it really did a fantastic job. I want to get for you what I got. I'm going to make it free, you're not going to pay for it."

Posting on Twitter he said that he felt 'better than he did 20 years ago' as he urged his followers not to be afraid of the deadly virus.

Trump wrote: "I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Centre today at 6.30pm. Feeling really good!

"Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs and knowledge.

"I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"
