Eric Trump Would Be 'Right By' Donald's Side If He Ran In 2024

Eric Trump would be 'right by' his dad Donald's side if he decided to run for the presidency in 2024.

The former president's youngest child with his first wife sang his old man's praises in an interview with Fox News, describing him as a 'father to America'.

He said: "What my father did is something that no political figure has ever done in American history. He changed this country and he changed it for the better.

"He taught people how to fight, he gave Americans the greatest civics lesson - and it's exactly frankly what this country needed.

"He was really a father to America and I'm incredibly proud of him.

"I would be right be his side again [if he ran for re-election], as painful as it was Sean [Hannity, the news anchor] - and you know how painful it was - as painful as it was, I would be right by his side encouraging him, because he's an amazing guy and I've never been more proud of him. I've just never been more proud of him."

Doubling down on his affection for his father, the 37-year-old claimed his dad was the most beloved political figure in the country's history.

He said: "They tried to manufacture everything under the sun against my father, against all of us. They do it every single day. They continue to do it. Even when he's a private citizen, they're still trying to impeach him.

"They wanna tar and feather the man. They know he did a great job for this nation. They know that there's never been a more beloved political figure in our country's history."

There's two things wrong with this. First of all, he was impeached when he was still president, they're not 'still trying to impeach him as a private citizen'. But his claim his dad was the most beloved political figure in the country's history is more outlandish.

Trump ended his presidency with a 34 percent approval rating which, if you want to compare, pales in comparison to the 59 percent approval rating his predecessor Barack Obama boasted upon his departure from office.

What's more, during his four-year term he polled at an average of 41 percent - which was the lowest of any president since the current polling system was put in place back in 1938.

He is also the only president since polling began (with Franklin D. Roosevelt) to never reach a 50 percent approval rating. That means that at no time were more than half of the country in favour of his term.

Perhaps Eric was referencing 'alternative facts'.
