At some point everyone thinks about telling their boss exactly what they think of them, but an entire workforce actually did it when they walked out of their jobs and left a brutal message for their employers stuck to the front door.

Hungry customers were stunned when they turned up to Sonic Drive-In, in Ohio, US, and were greeted by an explicit note from the staff who had just quit their jobs.

The expletive-laden A4 note from 'Ex-Sonic Crew' members said they refused to carry on working for the 'terribly managed' company, which had just been sold.

According to reports at 614Now, the burger joint was taken over by a new firm on 25 February.

The note read: "Warning, due to terrible management the whole store has quit.

"The company has been sold to people that don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience but our team refuses to work for a company that treats their employees like they are shit when they have put everything into this store.

"We have worked too hard for too long. We are all off to better things."

"So to the new owners, FUCK YOU! Sincerely, Ex Sonic Crew."

It's been a bit of a tough time for Sonic Drive-In employees elsewhere, with two other teams also storming out.

Local news outlet the Scioto Post said workers at the Lancaster branch of Sonic had also left a note, but it was much tamer, saying 'goodbye' and 'thank you, next'.

Staff claimed they decided to walk out because of poor management.

It has also been reported that staff had seen their wages cut from the minimum wage to $4 (£3) an hour - something bosses have denied.

A Sonic spokesperson told WSYX: "Under new management, guests and the community can look forward to improved service and the famous food, beverages and treats for which Sonic is known.

"Employees working for the local drive-in can look forward to fun, fast-paced work on which they can build a career, if they choose.

"Most current employees will have the opportunity to continue to work at the drive-in under the new ownership."

Sonic Communications manager Kyle Lankford added: "No wage rates at any level have been decreased in this transition."

It's not yet clear whether the restaurants will stay closed permanently.
